http://www.tankspot.com/showthread.php?61067-Icecrown-Putricide

I'm posting this bec ause the Abomination part of the fight means we should be prepared ahead of time.  And because I'm assuming we'll get past Rotface this week!  ^_^

So we need to decide which tank runs the abomination.  I'm happy to do it if needed but think Fairtide would be better for it.  Either way, check out the videos.  I'd love to clear the second wing this week.

I was gonna do this too, but you beat me too it. Anyway, I'd like to make a side note, since some sources mention and some don't, that during Phase 3 its best to have the second tank taunt off the first tank when they have 4 stacks of the infection the boss causes, which is cast in 10 second intervels. If we allow the first tank to reach 5 stacks it becomes too much for the healers to heal through, and will buy us aboout 70 seconds or so, instead of 40 that one tank would buy us. And if the tank dies,, or if the infection drops off,  it will heal the boss for 300K health.

We'll be using two healers for this fight as well.

http://www.wowwiki.com/Professor_Putricide has a nice strategy.

Notice how they tend to actually tank Putricide around in small circles near the middle.  I'm not sure if they were incredibly lucky on green oozes, but they always seemed to target someone at range, so the mob had to pat through the melee, and the melee could just get on and follow it to the target.  Also, slime pools are much more conveniently placed in the center of the room for the most part, and the boss is kited around in circles around the slime pools in the middle.  This also means the abomination pilot has more time and is closer to the slimes to slow them, with slime pools close to where the oozes patrol through.

As I mentioned before, notice that the ranged are further away from the ooze spawns than the melee and that the oozes generally target ranged.  When we were trying it, the green oozes also tended to target ranged players.  In fact, the only time they ever targeted our melee is after our melee was knocked back away from the boss and out of melee range of the boss.  A few videos also mention this: the oozes take priority on targeting ranged unless nobody is at range.  Only then do melee start getting targeted.

So it is best if the ranged players are in the far corners of the room and the boss is tanked more toward the center of the room.  That way the oozes have to travel the farthest distance and the melee has the longest time attacking the mob, traveling with it as it moves through them.

I've been watching some videos and something I noticed is that the (green)slime almost always reaches it's target on the first pass. So we're not doing anything terribly wrong if it gets there once (and even twice). When everyone get knocked back by the explosion, it's critical not to run directly back into it to DPS, as it could choose you as it's new target.

Also, I'll try and stack a couple of the armor debuffs on PP to help burn through his health a bit faster.

Good point, the green slime did the same in the Tankspot video.    So the real key seems to be when to collapse and make sure everyone survives.  Positioning I'm less sure about.  Most videos do seem to be more in the middle.

Next week I think we'll be putting Putricide on hold for a while, and working on the vampires.  Some more gear and new bosses down will help rejuvenate us before renewing our attempts. : )

There is a reason why Heroic Putricide was the second to last boss killed in Heroic 10/25 progression.  He should be easier after we get some more gear from the other wings.

It is a very rough fight, and one where some more gear would definitely help us.

As well, another growth in the buff alone should easily take us over the threshold and serve for a win.  Damn that 3.5% attempt...
